After months of delays, work resumes at former Younkers building

New owners say they had to spend months fixing faulty plans left by the previous owners of the burned downtown building.
Who knew restoring a building after it was gutted by a massive fire would come with so many headaches?
But that’s life for Justin Doyle.
Doyle and his partners in Blackbird Investments are renovating the remains of the former Younkers building — now called the Wilkins Building — into 60 apartments and several storefronts. After spending months sorting out problems that Doyle said were left by the last developers, Blackbird recently started construction.
The project is scheduled to be complete in spring 2017.
It was nearly two years ago when the Younkers building went up in flames.
