Blackbird’s partnership with YMCA Supportive Housing Campus

The Blackbird team recently joined Meals for the Heartland at the YMCA Supportive Housing Campus for a meaningful pay-it-forward experience of packaging meals for those who experience food insecurity right here in our community, as well as abroad.

The YMCA Supportive Housing Campus is a community solution to help eliminate homelessness by providing hope, dignity, and support in the form of permanent supportive housing.

This Housing First Model helps people who are homeless (or at-risk of homelessness) move into stable and secure permanent housing supplemented by supportive services. Case management, transportation assistance, food/clothing/hygiene pantries, rental assistance and other services help people meet their basic needs and reach their life goals.

The campus provides a place to call home for 140 men and women. The constant wait list demonstrates the need for affordable housing in the community.

Blackbird started their partnership with the Supportive Housing Campus in November of 2018 and we have continued our support of the campus through numerous donations, canned food drives, sending Valentine’s Day cards, and more. We are honored to support such a great cause here in our community and will continue to do whatever we can to aid in their success.
